Twitter traffic for accounts affiliated with the Islamic State is down by 45 percent compared to two years ago, and the average number of followers for an ISIS account has plunged to 300 from 1,500 in 2014. Social media has been a major vehicle for the Islamic State’s efforts to recruit new blood and disseminate its doctrine.
